Kids Section 6

Risaala (Prophethood)

Kids section 5

Shahada (Faith) - What Muslims believe
When you're at school, think about how the teacher tells you things you didn't know before and how all the children listen (well, most of them anyway!)
In a similar sort of way, the prophets that were sent by Allah came to teach us things we didn't know before. Some came to remind the people about things told to them by earlier prophets but that they had forgotten. They all came to teach us about who Allah is and how we should live in the best way. The first Prophet Allah sent was called Adam (pbuh). And the very last Prophet was Muhammad (pbuh).

Shahada (Faith) - What Muslims believe
About Allah:
As a Muslim it is very important for us to know who Allah is. After all, He created us and the world around us. He is the Greatest Friend we could possibly have, and one day, we will all return to Him.
Did you know:
We do not know what Allah looks like and we are not allowed to try and draw pictures of Him.
Why is Allah our Greatest Friend?
Allah created us and knows what is best for us.
He sent us messengers and prophets to teach us how to live our lives the best way.
He has power over all things.
He listens to our prayers and our duas and he answers them.
Allah loves good Muslims and He does what is best for us. Sometimes we might not know when He is helping us, but we should know that He is always watching over us and will take care of us.
What does Allah look like?
We do not know what Allah looks like and we cannot really know as our minds are not big enough to be able to contain this knowledge.
Think about it this way...
Can you pour all the drink in this bottle into the lid next to it (all in one go and without spilling a drop)?
Answer:
All that drink cannot possibly fit into the lid because the lid is too small to contain it.
The knowledge of Allah is a bit like that. Our minds are too small to contain full knowledge of Allah.
However, Allah helps us to get to know Him by telling us what He is like. For instance He is very Kind and Forgiving.

Kids Section 3

Shahada (Faith) - What Muslims believe
Tonight, when it gets dark, take a look out of your window to see if you can see the moon.  Allah made it, along with everything else.  Have you ever wondered how it manages to stay up in the sky without ever dropping down?  Who do you think makes sure it stays up in the sky? Who makes sure the planets move without bumping into each other?

Kids Section 2

Shahada (Faith) - What Muslims believe
Allah is the Creator (maker)of everything.  He is the Creator of the whole universe.  This includes the stars, the planets, the sun , the moon, the heavens and everything on the earth. This includes people and all other living things like animals and plants.   After he has created (made) all these things He still takes Care of everything.

Allah is the One that can bring something to life

...and He also is the One that gives death to things.

He controls everything.
We must only pray to Allah and NOT to anything else.  If we pray to something else then we are not Muslim.
As Muslims we must do as Allah and His messenger, Muhammad (pbuh) ask us to do.  Everything the Prophet Muhammad asked us to do was because he was ordered by Allah. It is all written in the Holy Qur'an. This is the Holy book that Muslims follow. You can see a picture of the Holy Qur'an below. You might even have one in your house.

ModulModule 1 - Shahada (Faith) - What Muslims believe

To be a Muslim we must believe in two things:

Believing in these two things is known as ‘shahada’.  Below you can see how we say the ‘shahada’ in Arabic and exactly what it means in English:

                                                                                        Did you know...

(pbuh):
This is a short way of writing'peace be upon him'.
Whenever we say the name of a prophet we should say peace be upon him.
